Television Production: Filmmaking in a Digital Age

Are you a storyteller at heart? Do words on a page translate into pictures in your mind, or even better, on a screen?

This short course will introduce you to the basics of smartphone filmmaking in a digital age. From concept to script, from storyboard to smartphone operation, from footage to final cut, this course navigates you through the exciting world of producing a short film using your smartphone.

This course is available at Boston Media House in Pretoria, Sandton and Durban.

Entry Requirements

Grade 11 Certificate; or National Certificate: (Vocational) L3; or equivalent qualification.

On completion of the short course, candidates will have the necessary knowledge and practical skills required to:

  • Write a screenplay,
  • Draw storyboards,
  • Operate and shoot using your smartphone,
  • Record sound using the appropriate microphone, in conjunction with your smartphone,
  • Direct an actor,
  • Light a set,
  • Edit raw material using a NLE (Non Linear Edition) system.

On completion the student will be issued with a Certificate of Completion
